Planning your Windsor, Colorado Trip
Your boudoir photoshoot is secured, your nerves are (currently) managed, and now it’s time to plan your trip! Whether you’re coming in from out of state and making a mini-vacation out of your photoshoot or simply driving the couple of hours from Denver - Windsor has plenty to do and I have all your tips for planning your Windsor, Colorado trip.
Where to Stay
There are several places in the area where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy some quiet time to yourself. Personally, I recommend Hampton Inn in Ft. Collins and it’s only 15-20 minutes from the studio. They have an indoor pool, a free hot breakfast, and are pet-friendly! If you would prefer an Airbnb there are some great options there too.
Where to Eat
If you’re anything like me one of the things I love most about traveling is trying new food. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite places for you to check out while you’re here:
Cacciatore at Heller’s Kitchen - If you’re looking for an authentic, Italian dining experience with great ambiance then look no further. They have a fantastic selection of entrees as well as Happy Hour Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30-10 PM. If you’re looking at treating yourself this trip then this is a must-have.
The Windsor Mill - Coming in for the weekend and looking for a great brunch spot? Then The Windsor Mill should be on your list. Brunch, weekly specials, and happy hour - this gem is a great spot for your All-American Eats.
Chimney Park - Celebrating a milestone in your life or just celebrating life in general? With an extensive wine list (it’s 17 pages) and mouth-watering meals, grab your best going out dress and heels and enjoy an evening of fine dining.
Peculier Ales - Founded in 2020, Peculier Ales was the first craft brewery in the area and has since become a popular spot. From IPAs, lagers, hard seltzers, pale ales, and more they have something for everyone. They have different food trucks but you can always grab food at Cacciatore or The Windsor Mill.
Mash Lab - If you’re looking for a fun spot with a cool backstory and burgers to go with your beer then Mash Lab is where it’s at. What started as a 1 barrel brew system in a single room of ‘Peratt’s nationally recognized hot rod shop, Pinkee’s’ - has become its own building next door boasting a 10-barrel brewhouse. Their tap menu is updated regularly and can be found on their website.
What to Do
Windsor itself is pretty small but you can always check out Greeley, Ft. Collins, and Loveland if you’re looking to explore. However, if you’re looking to check out some local spots here are my favorites:
Windsor Lake - The lake is absolutely beautiful and is a great family spot for a picnic, walk, or some quiet reading time if you’re on your own. In the summer they have concerts every Thursday night with food trucks and lake swimming. It’s a lot of fun and should be tried at least once.
The Summit - If you’re looking for family-friendly then this spot is another popular one. Bowling, arcades, and food all await inside.
River Bluffs Open Space - Up for more of an adventure in the Big Outdoor of Colorado? Then check out River Bluffs. Whether you want to hike, walk, or bike it’s a popular area with beautiful views of the river.
Are you ready for your Windsor, Colorado trip?
